As a teacher:

I am passionate about facilitating thinking, imagining, and learning!

This will be my 12th year of teaching in the Sioux City Community School District. During my first two years, I enjoyed working with middle school kids in exploratory classes like Creative Writing, Foods, Life Skills, and ScholarShop at Woodrow Wilson MS. 7th grade Life Science was next. Then after two years, I joined the TAG Department as the 5th grade TAG Teacher and K-5 Mentor Coordinator. Although I am no longer the Mentor Coordinator, I still have my 5th grade pull-out and the 2007-08 school year added a few new and different responsibilities (Website/Technology/Assessment).

In the summer of 2005, I taught my first grad class for Morningside College {Introduction to Gifted Education}. When the endorsement courses were offered again last summer, I was fortunate to be asked to teach the Curriculum/Methods course in addition to Intro. Incredibly, this summer I'll also be taking on the 3rd course ~ Development & Management.

As a person:

My husband (Rich) and I have a 8 year old daughter (Brittany Jo). Brittany is a 2nd grader at Nodland and Rich is over at  East High as the Assistant Principal. Although I grew up in suburbia, I am now enjoying the benefits of living out in the country - on a gravel road. {Which explains why my car is always dirty!}

As a learner:

I graduated from East High and then attended the University of Northern Iowa. However, I then moved back to Sioux City and graduated from the University of South Dakota. My undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Middle School. I have a TAG endorsement from the University of Iowa and I aquired my Master's Degree in Education from Morningside College.
